If you're looking for a truly concert ready snare drum at an affordable price, the Black Swamp Concert Maple Snare Drum is for you. Each drum is checked, tuned, and tested by a professional percussionist before leaving the factory.

All drums are precisely machined on a 5-axis CNC machining center for consistency and quality. Smooth die-cast strainer - tough and durable yet smooth and quiet.

2.3 mm Triple Flanged counterhoops and die cast lugs, and topped off with an Evan G1 batter head. Black Swamp Wrap-Around Cable Snares (Blue Cable/Bare Cable combination) balances a robust tone with sensitivity.

Eh. I guess the drum is okay. The engineering is constant with what I have come to love from Black Swamp, the drum itself is made very nicely. However, the drum sounds dead with the snares off, and thin with the snares on. Similar to the "Pearl Disease" where the snares on a Pearl drum fall loose and take much time to repair, this is not a good demonstration of what Black Swamp is capable of. Go a step above this drum, buy a ProTen Snare for a hundred more. The difference is astronomical, I love ProTens. Even then, go another step and buy a SoundArt or MultiSonic. These are beautiful drums that demonstrate Black Swamp's success, however the concert maple is somewhat of a letdown with respect to tone and sound output. Not recommended.

I don't have an orchestral shop anywhere near where Im at so I was kinda nervous making this big purchase without actually meeting the drum in person... I couldnt be happier though. They call it an "entry level" drum but its so beyond that, it makes pros i play with jealous. Probably the best drum ever made under $500.
